The project site is located at Bijoykora, a village inside Chowddogram thana under Cumilla. Our client is an owner of a 50 years old one-story tiny house situated on the site. Being a resident of Dhaka, the client could not stay at his home, and the place was already in ruins and was left empty and kept without proper care.

The idea was to remove the existing house and rebuild it as a duplex vacation house which will be used again by the client and his family and all the future generations to come.

Our client also mentioned that they would not stay in this house. Instead, they will visit the place from time to time. Keeping this essential information in mind and based on the needs of the client, the duplex vacation house was designed so that it will need minimum maintenance and have good safety features.

The duplex residence contains a Parking space, Living room, Dining room, toilet, and a kitchen on the ground floor. Keeping the village’s traditions to ‘gather altogether to eat and have table conversations’ in mind, The dining room is double in height and spacious enough, which acts as a family gathering space. The upper floor contains another family gathering space, one spacious balcony, one dry kitchen, and two bedrooms with attached toilets. The roof has structural features which will help for vegetation of different kinds.

We also tried to keep the budget to a minimum and planned to use locally made auto bricks for exterior brick walls.
